House Advances Strong’s $12 Million for North Alabama Public Safety and Infrastructure Projects
WASHINGTON — Congressman Dale Strong, member of the Appropriations Committee and Vice Chairman of the Commerce, Justice, and Science Subcommittee, secured over $12 million in Community Project Funding for infrastructure and public safety enhancements across North Alabama.
The funding was included in H.R. 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Act, 2026, which the House of Representatives passed this week.
“I’m proud to have secured over $12 million in this funding package to deliver meaningful investments for communities across North Alabama. These resources represent my commitment to strengthening public safety, supporting local law enforcement, and advancing innovation.
“From upgrading 911 radio systems and police equipment to improving water infrastructure and expanding cutting-edge research capabilities, these projects address both immediate needs and long-term growth. Working closely with our state and local partners, I’m proud to deliver targeted investments that keep our communities safe, strengthen our workforce, and ensure North Alabama remains a leader in innovation, defense, and aerospace for years to come,” said Congressman Dale Strong.
The $12,127,067 secured by Congressman Strong for community projects in Alabama’s Fifth District includes:
$1,500,000 for the Town of Rogersville to construct an elevated water storage tank to ensure the residents have reliable water capacity, pressure, and service.
$592,305 for the Priceville Police Department to purchase new patrol vehicles and upgrade equipment, allowing officers to better serve their community.
$300,000 for the Hartselle Police Department to replace aging radio systems and modernize equipment, to enhance law enforcement capabilities.
$4,135,000 for the Auburn University Applied Research Institute in Huntsville to acquire high-performance computing capabilities for key national security and defense applications.
$4,200,000 for the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s AI Research Facility for Space and Defense to support U.S. innovation, bolster national security, and enhance specialized workforce development.
$199,762 for the Somerville Police Department to purchase new vehicles and make technological upgrades, to assist local officers in protecting their community.
$1,200,000 for Lawrence County to modernize the town’s radio system, to improve communications for first responders conducting public safety operations.
Congressman Strong secured $6.2 million in FY26 Community Project Funding in H.R. 5371, which was signed into law on November 12, 2025. Altogether with the passage of H.R. 6938, the Congressman will have delivered over $18 million back to AL-05 in Community Project Funding for FY26.
H.R. 6938 now awaits consideration in the Senate before going to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
