Our District

Nearly 730,000 people reside in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District, which encompasses the counties of Jackson, Madison, Lawrence, Morgan, Limestone, and the eastern portion of Lauderdale.

North Alabama‘s robust workforce and hospitable business climate have made the Tennessee Valley an industrial powerhouse. The Fifth District’s dynamic economy is bolstered by its agriculture industry, space exploration, manufacturing sector, and defense industrial base.

Huntsville, the propulsion capital of the world, is the second largest and fastest growing metropolitan area in Alabama.

When the warfighter called, Huntsville answered. Home to Redstone Arsenal and many other national security assets, the Fifth District serves as the nation’s premier defense hub. The space and rocketry programs at Redstone Arsenal were among the first to develop large U.S. ballistic missiles.

The district’s military installation is spearheading the development of vital cutting-edge capabilities to defend the homeland against foreign adversarial threats. When it comes to providing for national security, the Rocket City is second to none.

Home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, North Alabama’s growth is largely driven by research and development. The Fifth District is home to more than 40,000 STEM professionals and nearly 4,000 aerospace engineers.

The district’s research and development sector is led by Cummings Research Park, the second largest park of its kind in the United States and fourth largest in the world. The park hosts more than 300 companies and 11,500 PhD-level employees.

North Alabama boasts majestic natural wonders, picturesque waterfalls, vast lakes, rolling mountains and sparkling rivers. State parks, hiking trails and campgrounds across Alabama's Fifth District offer tourists and constituents unique avenues to explore Alabama the Beautiful.

Agribusiness has cultivated a positive impact on the regional economy as some of our country’s rank among Alabama's top-ten producers in beef and dairy cattle, corn, cotton, and soybeans. Every corner of the district boasts rich histories in agribusiness that still ring true today.

From Florence to Bridgeport and everywhere in between, there is no doubt that Alabama's Fifth Congressional district has a lot to offer our nation.
