Congressman Dale Strong HASC Subcommittees

For Immediate Release: Thursday, February 2, 2023
WASHINGTON— Congressman Dale W. Strong (AL-05) has been appointed to three House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Subcommittees for the 118th Congress: Strategic Forces, Readiness, and Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems (CITI).
HASC is charged with the crucial task of improving national security—which is not only critical for our country but also our partners and allies around the world.
HASC is responsible for building the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act. Chairman Mike Rogers(R-AL) says the committee will be laser focused on the threats facing America and the capabilities the warfighter needs to defeat them.
The Strategic Forces subcommittee oversees one of North Alabama’s defense area of expertise – missile defense and national security space, as well as Department of Energy national security programs. Congressman Strong’s role will allow him to directly advocate for key programs, units, and commands at Redstone Arsenal and the district’s industrial base.
The Readiness subcommittee is responsible for the largest account within the Department of Defense’s budget, which includes training and logistics, military construction and housing, the BRAC process, civilian personnel, and energy security. Alabama is home to over 23,500 civilian Department of Defense employees and houses five military installations (Redstone Arsenal, 117th Air Refueling Wing – Birmingham, 187th Fighter Wing – Montgomery, Anniston Army Depot, Fort Rucker, Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex).
Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems (CITI) has jurisdiction over Department of Defense policy relating to cyber security, operations, and forces, artificial intelligence, and electromagnetic warfare. Known as the “Silicon Valley of the South", Alabama’s Fifth District hosts some of the brightest minds in cyber and technology.
"I am humbled to have been trusted by leadership to be on three subcommittees for House Armed Services. I look forward to continuing my efforts to support the warfighter, our nation’s defense industrial base, and national security as a whole,” said Congressman Dale Strong.
