Strong on Homeland Security Committee Advancing Mayorkas Impeachment Articles

WASHINGTON— Representative Dale W. Strong issued the following statement after the House Committee on Homeland Security voted to advance articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:  

“A yearlong investigation conducted by the House Committee on Homeland Security revealed numerous instances where Secretary Mayorkas has blatantly disregarded his obligation to his oath and to the American people. Mayorkas has willfully refused to comply with and enforce federal immigration law as passed by Congress. 

“Make no mistake, this border crisis is the direct result of Mayorkas’ failure to enforce federal law. In the last three years, Americans have watched the chaos and devastation that has unfolded at our Southern border. Our nation is in the midst of a historic national security and public safety crisis. 

 “I am pleased that Committee Republicans have taken action to hold Mayorkas accountable for his absolute failure to execute the laws passed by Congress meant to provide for the safety and security of our homeland."
