Strong Secures North Alabama Wins in NDAA

December 14, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Dale Strong (AL-05), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on his vote to pass the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):

“The NDAA provides authorization for funding of every aspect of the United States military. This year’s NDAA ensures that U.S. military readiness remains at the highest level, combats aggression by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), guts the Biden Administration’s woke policies & DEI bureaucracy, and increases oversight of U.S. taxpayer dollars to minimize waste.

The bill also makes significant investments in North Alabama and is yet another example of the importance of the region to U.S. national security. I will continue to fight for the people of Alabama’s Fifth District and ensure that everyone knows our nation is made safer by North Alabama.”

The House voted 310 – 118 to pass the FY24 NDAA on Thursday, December 14, 2023. The Senate passed the bill on December 13, by a vote of 87 – 13. The NDAA now moves to the President’s desk for his signature.

Chairman Mike Rogers said the following of Rep. Strong's work on this legislation:

“Dale Strong has fought tirelessly for our national security and Alabama,” Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) said. “Dale has worked around the clock to ensure that the FY24 NDAA continues to support the work being done in Alabama to support our national security. Dale and I have fought hard to hold the Biden Administration accountable and resist their attempts to inject politics into the Space command basing decision. I thank Dale for his tireless leadership.”

North Alabama: The NDAA includes over $500 million in funding authorizations for research, development, and the continued improvement of Redstone Arsenal.

Space Command: The NDAA includes a provision championed by Strong that prevents further construction at the U.S. Space Command headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO until the completion of two independent investigations.

FINISH IT Act: The NDAA includes Rep. Strong’s FINISH IT Act. This provision requires the DoD to provide unused border wall materials currently rusting in storage to border states to use.
