Strong Secures Wins for North Alabama in 2023
WASHINGTON— U.S. Representative Dale W. Strong (AL-05) released the following update on his work for Alabamians as he reaches the end of his first year in Congress:
“It has been an honor to serve as your representative in Washington. I am proud of the wins our team has achieved for North Alabama.
As a freshman member of Congress, I was appointed to serve on three committees that are crucial to the people of Alabama's Fifth Congressional District: Armed Services; Homeland Security; and Science, Space & Technology.
After two years of Democrat control in Washington, D.C., Americans are paying the price for their failed policies: wasteful government spending, higher energy costs, skyrocketing prices for everyday goods, an overrun Southern border, weakness on the world stage, emboldening our adversaries, and a federal government backed by Biden to be weaponized against his opponents.
I am proud to say that I hit the ground running with my Republican colleagues to fight for America. This year, the House has passed the most conservative border legislation in history, sliced bloated bureaucratic budgets, and prioritized our men and women in uniform.
While we are making progress, we are still fighting an administration that refuses to implement these conservative priorities. Moving forward, I promise to continue fighting for our conservative values, commonsense policies to make life better for hardworking Americans, and our national security.”
CONSTITUENT SERVICES
- 1,001 constituents served through casework with federal agencies, ranging from passports, VA benefits, tax returns, and many other casework issues constituents have had with federal agencies.
- Over $2.83 million in constituent benefits secured and returned to AL-05 by my office.
- 17,899 individual response letters sent to constituents regarding comments sent to my office.
- 720 visits to local businesses across all five AL-05 counties to hear their comments regarding issues and legislation that impact them.
- 15 Mobile Office Hour events held in communities across North Alabama, including: Stevenson, Triana, Ardmore, Falkville, and many more. Be on the lookout for Mobile Office Hours near you in 2024.
KEY LEGISLATION INTRODUCED BY REP. STRONG
FINISH IT Act
The Biden Administration has forced the Department of Defense (DoD) to spend up to $130,000 a day to store and keep from using materials intended for the border wall, which the Biden Admin has refused to build. This bill would require DoD to use the construction materials to secure the southwest border as originally intended or transfer them to border states for that purpose.
Protecting America’s Agricultural Land from Foreign Harm Act
As of 2020, Chinese ownership of U.S. agricultural land was over $1.8 billion dollars in value. My legislation prevents the purchase or lease of this land by any individual associated with the government of China or other foreign adversaries.
DHS Biodetection Improvement Act
The anthrax attacks of 2001 opened our eyes to the threat of bioterrorism. Since then, we have worked across all levels of government to improve prevention, detection, and response capabilities, but work still remains. This legislation will ensure the Department of Homeland Security is fully leveraging every tool at its disposal to protect Americans against the threat of bioweapon attacks.
STRENGTHENING OUR NATIONAL SECURITY & DEFENSE
The NDAA provides authorization for funding of every aspect of the U.S. military. This year's NDAA ensures that U.S. military readiness remains at the highest level, combats aggression by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), guts the Biden Administration's woke policies & DEI bureaucracy, and increases oversight of U.S. taxpayer dollars to minimize waste.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I was able to secure several wins for North Alabama in this year's NDAA, including:
- Halting further construction of the Space Command’s interim headquarters in Colorado until the completion of two independent reviews into the Biden Administration's unprecedented political reversal of the Air Force's merit-based selection process, which named Redstone Arsenal as the best location for national security.
- A 5.2% pay increase for our men and women in uniform, the largest in over 20 years.
- The inclusion of my bill, the FINISH It Act, which will protect our Southern border and cut wasteful government spending by the Biden Administration.
- Gutting the Biden Administration's DEI bureaucracy in our military.
- Over $500 million in funding authorizations for research, development, and the continued improvement of Redstone Arsenal.
- Multiple provisions to ensure America remains on the cutting edge of development and maintains dominance over our adversaries.
