Strong Supports Emergency Aid for Israel

WASHINGTON—U.S. Representative Dale Strong issued the following statement after the House voted 226-196 to pass the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act:
“Israel is the United States’ most strategic ally in the Middle East and has a right to defend its sovereignty. This package will provide critical, American-made military equipment, ensure our own defense stockpiles are replenished, bolster defense of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, and assist with evacuating U.S. citizens from the region,” said Representative Strong.
The aid package also includes key provisions which will replenish Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems, which were partially designed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
“Iranian-backed- Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists are going to continue to feel the heat of Huntsville. I am proud of the hardworking men and women of North Alabama who have played a critical role in establishing and maintaining the U.S.-Israeli missile defense programs,” said Strong.
If signed into law, the supplemental package would be paid for by redirecting funds originally appropriated for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
“The way I see it, we’re getting a two for one deal here – helping a historic, democratic ally of the U.S. to defend itself and protecting the American people from a wave of new Biden administration IRS agents. I hope the Senate will act swiftly to pass this critical package.”
